What Refera does not do

Who this page is for: everyone. Software at the front door of a medical practice should be plain about its failure modes. These are ours.

Faxes are grainy and handwriting is hard. Extracted fields are shown beside the available source excerpt and attachment metadata. Refera does not yet claim a deployed source-document archive: the practice keeps the original in its existing system until the source-object lifecycle is implemented, tested and enabled.

When capture cannot make sense of a document, it stays in the queue marked needs review. It is never silently dropped and never silently guessed at.

That is why nothing is sent without a person approving it, and every approval is logged in the sealed chain. Editing a draft before approving is expected, not an exception.

It performs no clinical triage: it does not compute, infer, rank or flag clinical urgency, acuity or diagnosis. Urgency appears only as the referrer’s own quoted words. Attachments are noted, not interpreted.

UNKNOWN is an answer in the closure design

Section titled “UNKNOWN is an answer in the closure design”

In the design-only closure ledger, when the records do not prove closure, Refera says UNKNOWN and sends it to staff review. The standalone route is not part of the current connected console; the refusal to guess remains the design rule.

Public examples are fictional and the private release checks use patient-free fixtures. Patient-data capture remains off until the practice, connection and service launch checks pass. Refera never independently contacts patients.

No automatic or independent patient contact. No EMR write-back. No clinical anything - Refera performs no clinical triage and is not a medical device. It captures, organises, surfaces and drafts for human approval; urgency is only ever shown as the referrer’s own stated words, quoted and attributed; and nothing is sent without a person approving it.

Refera tracks referral admin only. It does not triage patients.

Examples are fictional and contain no patient information. Practice staff approve every external action. Refera never auto-sends or independently contacts patients.
